Hi guys new here but my o/d light started flashing and now the tranny not shifting correctly. I’m not a mechanic but I checked my fuses and #33 is blown and blows as soon as I replace and crank the truck. My owners manual says it’s ahift solenoid #12 and #22. I have no idea what that means but watching a couple of YouTube vids it seems that there may be a direct short. I pulled the right front inner fender and tire to see the exhaust manafold and everything is up and off the manafold. I then took the cover off the steering column and it has a couple of zip ties gold the I guess nueteal safety switch back so it starts where ever. I can’t understand it was fine one day and the next morning this happens. Any feedback would be helpful. I don’t have an obd2 scanner and don’t know which one to but to diagnose.
It would help if you EXPLICITLY identified what you are working on.... One cannot look up technical data without knowing the basic information about where to look.
There is a o/d shift solenoid in transmission that is a known problem . You can list what transmission by your vin and your door sticker . Some guys have fixed their own but I'm not a tranny guy . Best to get a local guy with a very good reputation to look at it . I would avoid the national box brand .
You have a fair amount of miles on tranny so you may have to get upgraded rebuild .
There are some threads about o/d retainer letting go and guys have dropped the control body and fixed it . There are some you tube videos about it . Ford tech malukoco is great .

There are two shift solenoids. Neither one is an o/d shift solenoid. So which one are you talking about? I don't know that either one of the shift solenoids have been an issue. I think you have been given bad information.
I yield to those who have hands on transmission repair . I just read and observe transmission work . Ford tech malukoco is some of my resource . Here he discusses loss of 4 th gear on 2004 f150's the first years for these electronic trans .. I have not had a failure yet but at 195k it could be any time. Me --I have several shops I would have mine rebuilt/upgraded at .
He doesn't have a "Loss of 4th gear" problem, he has a short circuit that is blowing the fuse that supplies the transmission with its operating power and the two downstream O2 sensors with their heater power.
Billy,
Disconnect both downstream O2 sensors and the transmission bulkhead connector. Put in a new fuse, turn the ignition switch to RUN and see if the new fuse blows or if it holds.
If it holds, there's a short in one of the sensors or the transmission's internal wiring harness. Connect one component at a time and see which one causes the fuse to blow.
If the fuse still blows with those components disconnected, you have a damaged wiring harness (chafed or pinched, probably) and it's going to take real work or real luck to find it.
