Back Up Light Problem

I checked the Bulbs, and the Fuse. I also looked at the steering column just in the hopes I would see something obvious and nothing. What is the most common cause of the Back up light not working? All other lights are fine. The wires look ok. The Haynes is not very helpful. The schematic list the switch, but doesn't tell me where it is. Is in on the column, tyranny what???

check your neutral safety switch

i had the same symptoms on my '82 E350 w/ 400 and C6. My switch is located on the tranny, near the shift linkage on the driver's side. it's pretty easy to replace, assuming you can find a replacement...

hope that helps. cheers!

I forgot to check Alldata DIY for the info. I paid for the service and keep forgeing to use it. They have pictures of the thing right where you said, on the Tranny. I already found a bunch of swithes at Advance Auto for 10 - 30 bucks. Thanks for the help.
