I assume these types of connectors don’t make the truck think a trailer is connected?
thx
That connector likely won't work, as it draws from the trailer plug circuitry. The key different with the Magnum harness is that it is a T off of the rear tail light harness, NOT the trailer harness. There is a difference. Anything tied into the trailer circuitry causes the truck to "see" a trailer. That's the reason the Magnum harness is so popular. I had the original Magnum harness on my rack and lived with the "phantom trailer" for two months. I was one of the first to get the new Magnum harness and discuss it on here and boy was it nice to have the truck back to normal!
Actually it does work fine. Local parts store had it and let me try it. It doesn’t affect the truck thinking there’s a trailer connected all the time, and gives me power when the park lights are on. Works great if you don’t need a long harness.
Go to Magnum Truck Racks as described in post #11 in this thread. Scroll down until you see the modular 10' harness. Click on that and enter your truck info where it tells you. I have not checked that site lately, but everything was straight forward. Easy to deal with.works as described and I have not had any trailer connected messages. It is not cheap but simple install. I think it is a great way to add items without splicing into vehicle wiring. Just plug and go.
