I ordered the Magnum harness and Ford factory tailgate bar like yours. Being as though the harness is 10’ long and is only run maybe a foot if that, did you roll up the excess and zip tie up around the spare?

I tucked mine up along the passenger side frame and zip tied it. I extended the wires from the lightbar pigtail. I put them in a wire loom over to the passenger side and tapped the wire from the magnum harness. I just wanted to keep the harness at length until I am done adding things.

The 3 light LED lightbar is part #HC3Z-13A613-C and the pigtail is part #8U2Z-14S411-AAC

The lightbar goes in place of the blank plate. There is an opening behind the blank plate for the pigtail wire to pass thru.

Installed mine today with an OEM pigtail (PN: #8U2Z-14S411-AAC) connected to the license plate light. The two pigtail wires are color-coded the same ... no way to differentiate between positive and ground. I determined polarity by bench-testing it and they will not work if wired backwards. I do not know if the 3-light marker bars are all wired the same from the manufacturer, but FWIW the passenger side pin on mine was the ground connection.

I might do this. What's the price from Ford for the two pieces?

Hey gravedgr,
I just checked on TascaParts.com and the lightbar is about $67 and the pigtail almost $15. I do not know what shipping would be. I have purchased several items from Nate at Fairway Ford in Ohio. Its a starting point. See if your local dealer can match or beat what you see online. Good luck. Hope it helps.

Hi,

I appreciate the info here on this. I got the two Ford parts, the light and the pigtail. Today I got under there and took a look, but don’t really see anything close by to tie into that the pigtail would reach. Being it is a OEM pigtail I thought it’d be long enough already to tie into existing, but don’t see anything. Would anyone happen to have a few pics of their install using the OEM pigtail?

thx

You will have to add a length of wire from pigtail to where you want to tie in. A no expense option is to tie into the license plate light. You will have to check to see which is the power wire and which one is ground. It matters on the lightbar. I put mine in a wire loom and it is taped so you can't see any wires. I used a Magnum Harness as listed above because I wanted to add other lights as well and did not want to make splices in the trucks harness.

Ah ok. Now that I think about it, the pigtail is a repair kit, so makes sense it doesn’t have the full length of wire.

I found a shorter t connector similar to the magnum that I’m considering: http://www.hopkinstowingsolutions.co...ses/41154.html

I assume these types of connectors don’t make the truck think a trailer is connected?

thx

Doesn’t that wire say #2 on the plug itself ?
