Has anyone had any trouble adding this to your 2017 SD? I had them installed and continually got the message on truck screen "trailer connected" then "trailer disconnected" over and over. Took it to Ford and they said they have had many instances with the 2017-18's when the tailgate bar was added and there was no way around it.
this is the one I had installed. Ford even said they had trouble with them when it was hard wired but didn't make sense to me since it would not be connected to trailer hook up.
I added the three light bar that are on the dual wheel trucks. The light is a factory ford item and I used a t-harness from MagnumTruckRacks that plugs into the harness on the passenger side by the spare tire. This can be used for different things as you can add running lights, turn signals, and backup lights. Simple plug and play with no splicing into truck wiring harness. It was $95 when I got mine. No issues for me at all. My truck is a 17 XLT.

I also used the magnum harness and it worked perfectly, no splicing into the factory wiring giving it a nice clean appearance underneath.

Wouldn't this Ford factory wire assy. (8U2Z-14S411-AAC) work just as well for hooking up the OEM LED light bar (HC3Z-13A613-B) as the Magnum harness, but at much less $$?
I believe the wire assembly you are referring to (8U2Z-14S411-AAC) is the pigtail that plugs into the 3 led bar, you still need to power it somehow and have a ground. Most people tap into the license plate lights but like I said, I like a clean appearance and didn’t want to tap into any wires.
I agree. I think that is just the pigtail. I wanted something that I could just plug in and tap the wires on the magnum harness. I am planning on adding other lights so the magnum harness works perfect for what I want to do.
I do not remember a part number. Go to MagnumTruckRacks.com and scroll down until you see 10' modular plug and play wire harness. Then select model and year. It is selling for $86 now and free shipping.
No problem. Hope the info helped. Just a reminder, where this harness plugs in is where a lot of trucks get water intrusion in the connectors. When you are going to install the harness, check your connectors for any corrosion. This would be the perfect time to throw some diaelectric grease in there to help prevent issues.
you will like how easy this harness will make adding things.
