I was on here years ago. Can't even remember my user name, let alone password. So... New account. Anyway, and this is probably a pretty common question, but I now found my way back into a first gen SD. I'm planning on leveling it and wondering what people's opinions are on different kits. I've looked at a bunch and some seem good and others look like complete junk. I want to go up 1.5 to 2" (2" max). Pro comp has a set that is 2", comes with complete new front leaves and 4 new shocks for like $500. I like the new leaf idea, so if anyone has it I'd love to hear your opinion.
I would recommend going with the new leaf pack like you are thinking instead of some of the other options for the front of these truck like the mini packs I don’t like those at all. I don’t have any experience with the leveling kit your considering but is actually the one I was going to recommend as I’ve used plently of other procomp stuff in the past and they make good stuff at a decent price point. Just don’t expect too much from their shocks. You may want to look at buying the the springs separately and picking your own shocks bilstein 5100 rancho 9000s or fox those are the shocks that a lot of us are using and are happy with. Also if your truck is a f-250 and you level the front with new leaf springs your going to have the bro lean look going on aka rear end lower than the front the f250 with good springs sat pretty close to level from the factory so you would need a 4” rear block with the leveling kit to keep things level or a slight rake with the rear being just a bit higher. If you have a f-350 with the stock rear block 3 5/8” or what ever it is almost 4” block you should be good.
Thanks for the advice on the shocks. I have a 350. It has a significant rake the way it sits now. I'm pretty sure that it will still be slightly higher in the back after going up 2" in the front. I'm good with that.
I have a 2002 F350 4x4 I installed the Pro Comp leveling kit when the truck was new and never had a problem with it but I do agree with mike189677 the shocks that come with the leveling kit are junk I ended up going with Fox 2.0 shocks
