The ABS light comes on in my 1995 chassis (E350 Van) motorhome after coming down a long grade and using the brakes. When I stop and shut off the motor the light resets itself until the next big grade. There is no change in braking power at any time. Can anyone give me a clue as to what may be wrong? I want to have some idea of the possible problem before I take it into the dealer. Thanks for the info
Don't feel bad about not getting any replies to your message. I don't think a lot of people know too much about the ABS system. I posted one out here a while back and did not get any replies either.
Anyway, I too have ABS problems that I think is a common problem with Fords. My van has the 4WABS system. Suddenly I have lost stopping power. I think it is a stuck open bypass valve that is part of the hydraulic pump assembly that sits under the driver area of the van. My ABS light is now on all the time.
I have friends who have F-150's who say the same thing. They have replaced master cylinders, and they do the same thing. When they hit their brakes hard, the rears will not work that well. When you inspect the linings, they look almost new.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is the ABS light need to be reset, or will it go off when a bad component is replaced?
