Starter issues 1989 5.0

I have problems with starter solenoid which i kind of get through(changed severak times).

problem is that recently starter started to spin with flywheel when it already started. After stopping engine it still spins. Few times it stoped by itself. Today i had wiring problems near starter solenoid, found the problem and rewired it. After that started the engine and same story. Engine starts with starter and starter continue spinning. This time until starter died.

what could be the couse of this ? Maybe some wiring to the starter solenoid is bad ? Sorry for bad english.

another thing . What is the right ignition timing for 302 EFI engine ? I have set it to 14 degrees but engine still starts most times from the second time. And high idle problem too. Changed throttle position sensor and idle air control valve. Started to wwork kind of better but still long start and high idle

What with these fender mounted (or otherwise) mounted starter solenoids, they used a large stud and nut, not for high torque purposes but for large electrical contact patch reasons. Some may over torque the nut that joins the starter or battery cable and this will internally break or bend the contact to the point of starter run on, or not at all.

Also make sure you don't have an accessory (electric fans) that are bleeding power into the starter wire. It could be in your ignition switch under the steering column going bad. The only way is to put a volt meter or test light on the trigger wire (small one) at the solenoid and see if you get voltage after the key is released from start to run.
