transmission problem
hello there I have been reading this forum and using its information to help me with my 2001 f150 . recently I started having a transmission problem this truck has the 5.4 is four wheel drive and has the 4r70w transmission symptoms are as follows intermittently the truck will rev higher than normal before taking off once engaged it shifts through the gears normally and once in converter lockup cruises fine sometimes when sitting at a light in drive waiting for green the truck will make a thunk and try to engage in foreward when this happens sometimes the truck will stall sometimes it releases. the truck has 250,000 miles on it and the previous owner said he had the transmission rebuilt at 155,000 fluid is not very old replaced at 210,000 no leaks fluid is clean and smells fine I am hoping somebody might tell me this could be a sensor, solenoid or other issue that I can fix myself rather than spending 3000 for a trans rebuild I am very experienced at working on cars and am not shy about repairing things myself but know very little about automatic transmissions thanks for any advice.
