Hi all,
I am putting an AOD transmission behind a 300 6cyl EFI in a 1988 F250. My question is, Are there any special wiring hookups for the lockup torque converter? Is it operated by the onboard computer and if so what wires need to be run? The truck in question previously had a 5 speed. Any other advice would be appreciated concerning the conversion.
Thanks.
Larry
I have not actually done anything as yet. I am seeking info on what is involved. I am very ignorant of the OD transmissions. Does the AOD not have an electronic lock up torque converter? If not, then would it not be just a simple swap. I wanted to go with an E4OD as I have read that it is the better of the transmissions but I am trying to avoid the big expense of the electronic hook up kits. I understood that the AOD needed no electronic hook up but then I have spoken to some friends who are "wanna be" experts that say that I must still computer controls for the converter. I am confused. Do I or Do I not need to hook in the electronics on an AOD? Thanks
