2000 Ford E150 Conversion van Tires

Hello all, I am new to this site or forum. I have recently purchased a 2000 Ford E150 Conversion Van I believe that's the proper name for it. It has the like side skirts and high roof. I'm currently deployed when my wife purchased this van for me to use for our family adventures. Any who, I have been searching the internet on tires that will fit the stock rims. I plan on purchasing newer rims as well either 15s or 16s in the future but was curious on what's the widest and largest I can out onto the van without putting a lift in it. I plan on removing the side skirts from the van since one side is missing as well. I seen 255s by some people but also seen like 235s on other sites. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Those conversion vans are usually worn out in the rear suspension so they will sag a little. You'll have to see it to judge what will work because what works for others may no work for you or you may be able to go bigger. You can usually go wider but your rim will determine how wide. I think most are 7 inch wide rims but on a conversion van it may be 8 inch. What size is it sporting atm? What kind of profile are you thinking? Before I went bigger tire I'd look into bigger sway bars and new springs (if it sags). Good shocks will help some too. Of course this is if you want better handling on your trips. If your just looking to improve your stance and look then tires and rims it is

thanks for the reply and info. From what I seen from the pics my wife sent it doesn't seem to be sagging in the rear but I will keep that in mind when I get back this week. It has a wheel chair lift in the rear so it may need the sway bars, springs and shocks. I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to vehicles and what not. As far as tires go I'm not sure at the moment. I just received a few pics of it from back home and haven't seen what size tires are on it at the moment. I'm just assuming they are stock. As far as profile or look of the van I just want it to look and handle good on off road terrain. Nothing crazy like mudding or anything just something that doesn't look like a soccer mom van.

I was quite happy with my setup on my former 2000 E150. New springs, Bilstein shocks and 265/70/17 (31") tires.

2000 E150 HD springs and tires.

That's Awesome! Pretty much what I am looking for. I'm not the best at working on vehicles but not a complete failure at working on things so I will probably see about getting a shop to do the work for me. When it comes to gearing for the larger tires what does that actually consist of? Not trying to do it myself or anything but I seen that a lot about changing up tires to larger sizes. Is that something simple anyone can do or does it take like knowing what your doing haha. Thanks for the info.

My 2003 E150 conversion van rides/drives real nice on the stock 15 X 7 Ford aluminum wheels (made in Italy !!) with Michelin 235-65R/15 tires, which fit the wheel correctly and don't sit outside of the body. If you are doing much traveling, you really don't want to go to wide, as a good quality tire of reasonable width will track and ride much better than big fatties. (and usually easier to balance). Best of luck with your new van.

If you're going to invest in new wheels, go with 16 or 17 inch. It's getting hard to find 15" tires that are round today. My 96 Conversion's riding on 235/70-15 front, 275/60-15 rear on classic aluminum slots ( 15x7 front, 15x10 rear) but this is with the fender flares and skirts. I've been through three sets of 275/60's now and have yet to find a pair that are round, I'm fixing to go with a different wheel/tire combo to get tires that'll run true at 75 mph.

I have a set of P235/75R15 Michelin Defender LTX with the Ford 9 spoke alloys and a match set of Michelin X-Ice on 15” steel wheels. They are almost new. Less than 10,000 miles on each set of wheels and tires. I am willing to let go of them.
