JEFFFAFA --- Ok I am on board with what I've got. I am still not real happy with the battery but it is working fine. The reviews & threads on line most all say the battery is poor quality and did not last like most good quality AGM units. Like I said before when it goes bad I will replace it with a Johnson Controls battery, more than likely a Optima AGM. Thanks again for the information.

One more thing that dawned on me. Optimas don't take a charge from a standard battery charger like a lead/acid battery does. I am assuming all AGMs are like that. I don't know for sure.

That is not quite true standard lead acid battery chargers are fine to use on AGM batteries (Optimas are AGM batteries).
Where the issue can occur is if voltage in the AGM falls below 10.5v then some older lead acid chargers won't detect the battery and will fail to charge it. This can be overcome by paralleling a conventional lead acid battery with the AGM on the charger until the AGM's voltage is or greater than 10.5V.

In vehicle the Alt. output for an AGM at average operating temperatures of 50°F/10°C 10 to 80°F/27°C , should be between 14 volts and 14.8 volts.
Older Generator equipped vehicles may not put out adequate voltage to properly charge AGM batteries in these applications it would best to use lead acid batteries, however if you are still running the original style electromechanical voltage regulator you could adjust the charge voltage to get it above 14V to make it adequate for AGM use.

JEFFFAFA & matthewq4b ---- Thanks for the information on charging. I have a AGM charger that I used on my Optima battery in my race car that should work fine with any AGM battery. Hope I won't need it.

It will also work with any lead acid also. Really the only difference with AGM chargers is they will sense an AGM battery all the way down to 1.25V. Regular lead acid chargers as noted may not sense AGM's that are below 10.5V
