Battery holder?

One thing I always noticed on my truck was the lack of any proper way to secure the battery. I always wondered if I'm missing something, so now I'm asking. All I got is a tray like thing that the battery flops around in and the two cables that connect in.

There should be a metal bar that goes across the battery with two rods that go down to the tray that your battery is sitting in. If you look at the tray, you should be able to see where the rods connect to it.

On the Fords, there is a long bolt with a plastic wedge-shaped piece on the end of it.

Looks like this, can be had from Rockauto.com (a sponsor):

DORMAN Part # 00588

Go to rockauto.com, drill down the catalog to Body-Exterior/Battery-hold-down for your 2002 F250 V10

All the late model Ford have the bolt and plastic wedge. The wedge holds down on the plastic lip on the bottom of the battery. When properly installed the battery won't budge.

I am in need of some help... I have noticed the truck I purchased has no battery tie down wedges. I went to a local junk yard and picked up a few but the bolts we not available. I need to know what size the bolts are and the correct threads so I may purchase the replacements at the hardware store. Does any one know the dimensions and correct thread type for these replacment bolts?

Any help is much appreciated.
