Forscan Intelligent Key Programming

Has anyone successfully been able to program an intelligent access/push button start key using Forscan software? I haven't been able to and there isn't much positive about it on their forum.

Thanks.

I don't think I used the software when I added the 3rd fob to mine. But I did have the original 2 fobs, so it was easy. Do you only have 1 fob and want to add a second?

Exactly. Even though apparently I can't even spell intelligent in my thread title... I bought a project 17 Expy Platinum that only came with one key/fob. I bought two more correct ones to program before I lose the only one I have. I doubt I would, but... Forscan said you can use their software to program it, but I'm no longer buying it...

Did you ever figure this out? I have a 2017 Expy EL and I ran one fob through the wash. I would like to figure out how to program an extra fob without going to the dealer or locksmith, or if my washed emergency entry key will work as a backup, but not finding any helpful info online just yet.

Sorry, I haven't. I haven't looked much deeper into it yet, but I don't want to spend $120 to have the second key programed. Eventually someone will figure it out.

I used the Dorman key programmer, since I could not get Forscan to do it.

Yes I know this is and old thread.

I've used Forscan to program keys for several vehicles. It really is straight forward.

Did you have only one transponder to start with? If you have two, you don't need Forscan to program a third. I would like to know more.

I've got two original keys for all my vehicles.

A while back I programmed a new key for my truck the "traditional" way only to have the truck start responding to the FOB to my wife's Expedition, too. It got quite aggravating having both vehicles lock/unlock when a button on her FOB was pressed. I never did figure out why it "learned" her FOB. The new key was an aftermarket device with a fatal flaw. The buttons weren't recessed enough and the alarm button would be depressed enough when it came in contact with another key to sound the alert. This would happen multiple times per week. I also learned the that alarm frequency has a modest interference with the FOB frequency. Once the alarm was on, I couldn't shut it off from the same location. If it went off when I was in the house I had to walk outside to get a clear line-of-site to the truck.

So I paid the $12 to FORSCAN to clean it up. It takes a little longer, but it's just as easy.

Keys are a totally different process than fobs.
