new engine

Hey there! havnt been around much last few years. besides being busy with my personallife ive been in full build mode on the ford. The old 300 had to go so I ended up with a 69 block 351W and then built a 425hp monster out of it and put it into the truck. Engine build and research took 1.5 years and the install took 3 weeks of evenings and weekends to install, clean up wiring and make heater core steel lines. step one engine is done step 2 will continue next spring!

The block is a 69 351W from a galaxie
punched .040 over
comp cam extreme energy cam
speedmaster 210cc aluminum heads compcam pushrods and aluminum rockers
hyperectic pistons with molly rings
lifters hydraulic flat tappet
timing chain is a compcam billet double roller
eldebrock proformer intake
custom made exhaust
electric fan, gilmer belt drive custom water hoses. was a lot of work
all internal hardware is arp bolts all external is stainless steel socket heads
perches have been changed as well.

What did you use for headers? I am planning the same swap into my 78.

How do you like your gilmer belt drive? Where did you source it from? Nice looking build.

I sourced the gilmer drive off eBay. The cvf racing brackets needed modifying to work and I needed to make spacers for the alternator. I do love the sound it has a slight whine like a blower. It’s pretty cool once I got it working right.

Cool thanks for your input. Do you know if this setup changed the ratio / rate of how fast your water pump is spinning? I’m tired of the 3g belt squeal on my FE and this looks like an interesting alternative to the ol’ vbelt.

And if you ever decide you don't like the whine, I'm pretty sure you can drill holes in the pulley to quiet it down. Think I initially read that about a blower belt.

Did you use the Speedmaster water pump? If so, did it fit on easily? And, how does it work?
Reason is I have one in a box and haven't installed it yet.

It’s a gmp high output water pump. Fits great works great. As for the ratio im not sure but if not sure if t affects water pumps.

As for the gilmer belt squeal I absolutely love it! The gilmer was actually cheaper than new pullies and vbelts

That should be a lot of fun. I swapped a 351W into my 78 F100 in high school but it was just an old 2v motor, I can only imagine how much fun yours should be. Enjoy and congrats on getting it going.!

How much into the motor itself? How do you like it? I'm contemplating a Windsor build for my new bump. 425-450 horse is the goal.

The motor itself it’s at the 10k mark. It’s 425ish hp right now. I absolutely love it. So glad I did it. The only thing I basically didn’t do is stroke it or supercharge it
