IDM Replacement Cost?

After perusing the posts here about code P1316 and resolving IDM issues, my main question is:
How much is a dealership or service place going to charge for diagnosing and repairing it?
My other option is to sell the vehicle because I'm thinking a 2002 Excursion is becoming more and more expensive to maintain? Its costs are starting to outweigh the benefits. Any advice for a layperson would be appreciated!

Send it to Swamps and have them upgrade it. No one "services" them locally that I am aware of...they send them off as cores to be rebuilt. If you buy a used/refurbished one (no new ones left), you are looking at $200-250 plus core charge.

Just my personal observation but I tend to agree with you about the 7.3 not so much based on age but milage.

The prices have not come down on normal milage units but they dont seem to be rising any longer.
high milage ones I have seen the prices dropping and many selling cheap.
Under 100k examples seem to be getting more expensive.

As far as advise, if you are at the 250k mark I’m guessing you are experiencing a major component maintaince cycle, stuff like trans, injectors, ball joints , fuel system, cooling system.... for me it makes sense to do the repairs for several reasons, mostly because I intend to keep the vehicle forever, it is paid for so it is still better then a new truck payment but also I do my because I do all my own Repairs and maintaince.
