Angry JC Whitney credit card farce

Hi to all Aussie FTE members.
Just had to cancel an order I placed with JC Whitney.

If anyone is thinking of buying stuff from them using a credit card don't bother.
After numerous emails I ended up having to make an international call to try and get some response.
They actually expected me to email them a copy of the front and
back of my card along with a copy of some form of ID such as my
drivers licence.

My response to this was to tell them to cancel the order.

Be warned.

A lot of US online stores require something similar...

I know you are unhappy about it, which I can understand - but be thankful... so many International credit cards get defrauded through online stores, because most non US/Canadian banks don't have the same level of billing address verification services, which they use as one of the major tools to verify it's you making the charge.
I would personally be more happy about spending my money at a company that requires that kind of info, than not, because its companies that don't do this that will be the ones that accept charges to your card when your CC number gets stolen.

BrianB, I've made a few purchases from JC Whitney, and other US based suppliers.
Essentially you have to use a US freight consolidator. I use Viaddress. Once you complete the registration, and fill in an order form with the web-site, product ID & price, and pay by pay-pal they will do a Consierge purchase for you. The puchase arrives at 'your suite' at the Viaddress depot. Where they make their money is in the normal freight commission on the freight charge from their depot to you.
I bought a ute-back tent, & some truck bed & stoke hole tie downs, It all come through OK.

If you buy some stuff from Amazon.com, same issue & same solution...

I have setup the viaddress stuff but their consierge service is down,
has been for months and they have no idea when it will be available.

Second I can't deal with paypal.
Their idiotic system wont accept my credit card.
You see my wife has a paypal account and because we have a joint
account then we both have the same credit card number.

Paypal's brain dead system designers can't create a system that allows
for this.
I have had three attempts to get them to change their system to
allow for married people with joint accounts but this it seems is just too
hard for the idiot programmers to get their tiny minds around.

I will find some other solution to the problem that I was after stuff
from JCWhitneys for.

Kin bollocks! I was lucky then! I have also used Shipito once. That worked.

I linked up my joint bank a/c with Paypal OK. I think I just pretended it was mine (my name was first), never volunteered that there was a 2nd a/c name. So far that has worked for me as I suspect that they only usually match on the first few characters af the account name & I have a long surname.

Anyway, Brian, you can use your wife's paypal a/c to pay, and the payment will go through to the same bank account and credit card. Won't she tell you her password?

So if you can get that password you're just a concierge service short of an order...
