Quick stupid question

A day or two ago i found a bare wire that runs from the engine block to the wiper motor and down to a connector.

before i tried to repair the wire it had 1.7 ohms and after i cut the broken end off i cant get the ohms back down.

with the wire repaired i get between 140 ohms to 32.5 ohms.

can anyone explain whats going on or am i doing something wrong?

thanks in advance

edited with a 18 gauge wire the lowest i get is 2.3 im thinking it have to do with the wire gauge size but im not sure

Billy, Billy, Billy, What are we working on, year & model, motor size and dose this wire have a color?
Where did this wire connect on the block and wiper motor and what does this connector look like?
It may just be a ground wire.

Shorted out?
If it is a ground it should not short out but then again if it is a ground for a high amp device when that wire was put to ground it could spark and look like it shorted out.
You are checking it by ohms what do you get for volts with everything turned off and then test for volts like when you saw the spark or short.
Not seeing that wire in person it is hard to say what it is or goes to.

Page 112 in this link shows no ground wire with a connector going to the wiper motor. Most wiper motors are grounded through a copper strap from the motor plate to one of the mounting bolts. The wiper motor is mounted on rubber mounts, so it needs this ground strap, which can get cracked over time.

Are these perhaps those black & green wires I told you about in one of your other threads? That come from certain pins on the computer? If so, they they didn't terminate at the wiper motor but at a pigtail near the battery ground connection.

I would thought it was the pin ground wires
but i might be wrong. Unless im checking the wrong pins i think its 60. Im confused about this wire too im checking the bottem far right pin its a thick black wire which i got 1.7 ohms on

whats weird about it was when i retraced it, it ran From the block with the injector wire to the wiper motor and to this weird connector and i dont know what happen here but i found that spot and the wire was completely bare.

So i put my engine ground back on and i notice my ohms spike to 76 and i went and found that bare spot and wiggle it and found it was broken thats when i decide to repair it since i thought it was the short. But now im confused since it shouldnt run that way

At the time people told me that these trucks never had them but mine does for some reason. But i ask people if i needed it and they said no and mine was broke off so i didnt care about it and never got a new one

long story short it been off for awhile and every sensor has a ground and when you ground pin 60 it resistance drops to .03 and so i did some research and without it doesnt know that if it knocking or not and it puts the truck into a fail safe mode

It seems dumb but if it needs a strong ground and it can't ground from a open connectors that would be it at least for the bad ground part of it
