Hi every one. I’m trying to figure out which of these wire connectors would be correct for a 1977 a/c system. Trying to use the correct one, barrel type or square connector. These wires connect to each other but I don’t know what’s original. Wires are black with yellow stripes. Thanks in advance, bill

I'm unsure about 1977. All I can say is that my 1976 F-250 with the 460 engine and factory A/C, born June 1976, has the barrel style connector on that black/yellow stripe wire. The connector is the semi-sealed moisture resistant type as shown in your photo.
First I dont have your year truck to go look at and I don't see enough of yours to say either but will give it a try.
What is in that area the wires will reach that have the same connections?
Could there be an harness extension that plugs into to either or both?
The round one looks like what would be for the compressor but is way to short from the looks.
The system should also have a low pressure switch but think the plug would have 2 wires to complete the circuit.
Do you have anything plugged into the psi switch?
Ok had to look at my 81 F100 with a 300 six so some wires are in different places.
That black / yellow comes from the main harness to the low psi switch, 2 wire plug, out (still bk/y) to that round plug that goes to the compressor.
Now I also have a green wire with a plug that looks like your other one that is wrapped with the bk/y compressor wire but comes out shorter that I "think" go to the carb to a solenoid that bumps up the idle speed when the AC is on.
I say "think" as my carb on the motor(non AC motor) does not have the solenoid and have not tested the green wire for power when AC is on because I don't have a complete AC system for testing yet.
