This is my first diesel and I need to get it smogged here in southern California. Does anyone know of a good place to get in the Thousand Oaks area of Ventura County? Also, what are the looking for when they do a smog. FYI my truck is an 05 F350 6.0. Thanks.
Well the easy things. Do you have the catalytic converter in place?
Is the EGR valve and cooler in place? Do you have any programming
aka: tunes on the truck? Also any stored DTCs?
That is some of the basic things and maybe one of the members from
down that way will pop in and fill in the rest of the blanks for you.
Well it is original as far as I know. It has its cat and egr system in place. Here is a screen shot of my readiness monitors from my Torque app. I just did a repair and had to clear a DTC, so one show it needs to complete.
Diesel Smog is a Joke , it takes them longer to open the hood than it does to run the inspection , on that note I’ve been fighting a P0104 DTC , had to break down and buy a Egr valve , it’s all gooood now
It's a joke over here thank goodness, all diesels except mine get a probe stuck up the exhaust. Mine is just looked at and waved forward to the light check, I'm not really upset though 😁
Well here's the update, it passed. They did a visual to make sure all the emissions equipment was in place, checked the computer for codes, and a smoke test.
