Yeah right hand drive indeed. Ill have a look ar that post now. Thanks for the link. The only ootion for trans would be the nv5600 but i cant find 1 anywhere for sale. Here atleast anyway. Ill grab a photo once my ute us home uts still with mechanic i gotta get it towed now as its pieces
That engine mount mod dont seem to difficult. I wonder why they dont just make some like yours as an option? Or is it purely because of the trans we are using? With my ac and stuff i might just use the cummins stuff i think. Or using a 7.3ps alternator i think i bloke in Australia did and used the 7.3 belt rhat way
I guess they wanted to use the original block mounting holes as much as they could.
Another may have been them not wanting to change the drive shaft phase angles, with my two piece shaft I haven't had any drive line vibrations up to 80 mph which is 5 mph over the 19.5 tires rated speed.
One thing you can look at is making your own engine brackets to connect to the ford engine mounts you already have, gave that some thought myself but already had the Destroked mounts setup so we just worked with them.
Cummins Repower makes a nice bracket for using the Ford alternator, they said it worked with the stock Cummins belt but I had to get the next size longer.
If you truck has a throttle cable going to the engines injection pump you may be able to modify it to work with the Cummins linkage.
For my left side drive I used a 5.4 gas engine throttle pedal and a Dodge cable, then again a right side drive Dodge cable should be easy for you to find as well.
I wouldn't mess with the nv5600, parts for them are already getting hard to find here in the US.
ZF6 and G56 cost to the same price here
If ZF6 you'll need a adapter plate but can use your transfer case and all ford clutch hydro's, you need a Dodge 6 spd flywheel drilled for a zf bearing or conversion bushing, Ford 7.3 13" clutch and plate for a ZF6.
G56 will bolt to the Cummins adapter saving you some money but you'll need to change the input gear in the transfer case and swap in Dodge clutch hydros, you'll need a Dodge 6 spd flywheel and clutch components for a G56.
There are companies that make clutch setups for these conversions but if you have a good local clutch builder they can do it probably for less cost. There's a well known clutch shop about 100 km from me that built my clutch, cost a few hundred less than the big name shops wanted.
Yeah im going with zf6 bugger sourcing nv4500 and the g56 is just as hard to get here in Australia! I thinking of 40mm body lift as well. I wonder if this will help the engine lining up with radiator? Itll give me alot more room in the trans tunnel as well! Ive also got to find a power steering pump to use and mount as the current one is gear driven at the back of the motor. I think ill still buy engine mounts as it would be easier to modify them then start from scratch. Once i get the engine mounted ir will make things alot clearer i guess.
Does the Cummins have the Dodge vacuum and power steering pump on left side below the injection pump, you'll have to have lines made up to wrap around to the right side steering box.
My engine came out of a bus with a air compressor and power steering pump that uses a remote reservoir, but some of those pumps are to big to work with the Ford hydra-boost brakes and steering.
Wonder what the odds would be of your gear driven pump fitting a Cummins gear drive.
Hmmm i was gunna sell the pump to my mate who needs 1 vut i may just hold onto it till i sort out if it does or doesn't fit. Be a long shot id say but ive got it and should have motor in about 2 weeks.
not sure if the engine has those accessories or not ill.have to ring the seller.
great read some of those threads thats for sure. ive pretty much lined up the zf6 speed, just waiting on the engine bloke to get a video of it running this weekend. whats good cold start oil pressure? and whats good warm oil pressure on the 6bt 12v?
I'd have to go back and read through that thread again but the steel adapter he used is new to the market, the crank spacer is still needed on some swaps but they weren't making the spacee at that time.
You can look up that companies web site to see what they offer.
