This is just an FYI to everybody about what a bad u-joint in your front axle shafts can cause. I was trying to diagnose a bad steering problem. Truck would suddenly wander to the right and sometimes the wheel would shake back and forth. First thought it was the steering box so i replaced it with a Redhead. At the same time i just changed the pump as well along with new lines. Only noticed a slight improvement, the issue was still there. Changed the drag link and steering stabilizer since they needed attention also. The hub bearings hub both been changed in the past year. U-joints were good then.The problem got gradually worse, crap. i thought i was going to have to change the power boost. Someone said worn axle shaft u-joints can cause steering issues. I was not sure how since it was not in 4x4 mode when the problem arises.Drivers side was solid, no play. Passenger side seemed solid but after i got a crowbar in there there was some play. Sprayed some WD-40 in the u-joint cap and rusty fluid came out.No needle bearings. Changed the joint and problem was fixed. Seems that the u-joint would bind up whenever, causing the truck to pull to that side even when NOT in 4x4. So i got some new parts that i didn't really need but hey ,live and learn.
