I own a 1979 Ford f250 and i recently broke out my axle shafts/ I replaced them using chromoly axles and now it seems my steering radius is completely shot. My u-joints try to bind before even maxing out the steering in either direction.
I wouldn't see the universal being the problem but maybe the yoke. If whoever made the shafts decided to beef up that area you can run into some binding between the yokes. That would be something you would want to check, usually tends to be an issue with driveshafts rather than axle shafts. If you have a stock shaft left over to make a compairison would be helpful. If the new shaft binds before the stocker call the manufacturer to see if it can be corrected though them or if you grind them out will they still provide any warranty.
Are the new joints any larger than the old ones? Which shafts did you go with?
Did you measure the differences between the old shafts and the new ones?
Should be easy to find the diffrences between the shafts, and determine where you have the limitation.
well i ordered these shafts from Bronco Graveyard, came with the recommended u-joints and the shafts match in length and spline count to the stock. this really got me stumped.

they carry multiple brands of shafts....but i got the yukon ones, and put them in my bronco and my steering wan't affected, if anything its better b/c of the bigger 760x joints...
