Should I replace lifters

have the engine out replacing the oil pan. Wondering if I should replace the lifters while it’s out. I have no problem with hem at all but it would be real easy to do at the moment. Truck has 230k on it. Im also open to suggestions of other item to address while the engine is out. Parts being replaced are: oil pump, oil pan (using adhesive not the gasket) piston cooler jets (brazed), harmonic balancer, rear main seal, turbo rebuild w/ new wheel, exhaust manifolds, up pipes, dipstick tube assy, steering gear, considering injector cups and prongs (stock injectors), Head gaskets (just because I want to check valves and pistons), glow plugs, power steering pump and hoses, a/c condenser, motor mounts, fuel lines on engine and flex lines that connect to them. I think that’s everything. I’ve been running Rotella t6 synthetic since I purchased the truck at 93k and all looks great inside. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

personally I look at it like "if im here already I might as well as I would rather not go back in for as long as possible" type attitude, it is really up to you however.

Since you will have most of stuff taken off the top I would go in and re-seal the intake manifolds to.

If you want to remove the heads go ahead. Might as well get the heads a freshen up (valve job and shiming the valves etc......

i agree with Adam. if you are going to remove the heads to replace the lifters, have the heads gone through. and if you are going to redo the heads and replace the lifters, you might as well remove the pistons, crank and cam, and replace the rings, rod and main bearings, and the cam bearings.
in other words, if you are going to remove the heads, you might as well just rebuild the whole engine.

if it was my truck, i would slap a new pan on it and call it good to go for another 200k miles.

I'd love to hear how the crankshaft bearings are doing at that mileage.

that engine interior is clean as a whistle for sure.. with the miles you have and it on the bench, and if the body is in good shape and this is something you want to keep for a while longer then go a full rebuild. even is you decide to sell you have show, take picture of teh deal, where the engine was refreshed at this time. might be good time to replace TQ as well if the OEM type. good luck.
