Trailer Blind Spot Issues

Forgot to post this question ages ago when I noticed it first....

My trailers a 30 foot Dutchmen. I think it's actually 33 feet tongue to tail.... I set the trailer up according to the manual and setup guide in the menus, but it's always tripping out if I'm in a slight turn or the trailer drifts slightly..... Always flashing the blind spot indicators....

Anyone else have similar issues? Seems kinda pointless to me if it doesn't work properly.

Do you have the setting set to the max 33ft or 30ft? Also to set it up correctly you need to have it set a couple feet longer then the actual trailer.

I have it set for 33 since I already knew the trailer was 33 feet from tongue to tail.

I really can't see the length setting having anything to do with it. It's like BLIS doesn't even care that you've told it there's a trailer behind you. The trailer just constantly sets it off.

I have a travel trailer which is just a tad over 33' long. I've never detected an issue with the BLIS misbehaving. Since BLIS relies on sensors located on each side of the bed at the rear of the truck to "see" vehicles in adjacent traffic lanes perhaps the front of your trailer is setting them off. Is the distance between the front of the trailer proper and the tip of the tongue unusually short (mine is 44") or is your trailer wider than usual? I suppose another issue could be misaligned sensors, you may want to check with the dealer.

Good Luck

Question: Whats the width of your trailer?

Mine sits slightly wider than the truck, mirrors need to go out to see around it. I thoroughly believe that the trailer is in the way, setting them off... but my trailer is no wider than any other. Why would Ford offer this feature if it wasn't designed properly.

Sorry, that made me chuckle.
You mean a features like not being able to charge a cell phone with the truck off, or not being able to choose no active trailer while in motion, or why it doesnt just go to no active trailer automatically when you unhook...or having such weak power at the trailer plug +12v
Or not being able to control when you want to use auto high beam.
Or leaving such short blunt cut wires
or having such a poor quality back up camera.
Or having the tailgate step so high you need a step to get to the step.
Or not being able to hook on safety chains
and......

Great truck..great features, just poorly implemented.
