Bought a reman engine and got my timing gear cover bolts mixed and lost. Know what sizes these are so I can get new ones or sort out what I’ve got?
Sure The book specs are more **** than "Gramps" and call for 5/16 x 18 x .88 in length. Why that appears to be .005 or 5 thou over a 7/8" so if your trusty ruller looks like .875 you're in Business. Bruce
You kidding me? There's multiple sizes for the bracket and the bottom of the cover. Don't be so quick to judge. You can do it
So go to the hardware store and find one that fits whichever size you happen to have. If you want to be spoon fed the most basic information then you're gonna have to put up with the form it comes in.

Youre not reading very well. There's 2-3 different sizes of bolts. I don't have the bolts. If I find just one, I still have others to find.

ARP sells bolt kits for every engine imaginable except our motors. WHY? Summit said its because the 300 isnt a very popular motor. This is hard for me to believe bc of the length of production 30yrs? 65-95 I think thats right. Its not the first motor I think of but its not an uncommon one either. Oh well. I think sending my bolts off to be chromed would be just as expensive as buying chromed bolts. Correct me if Im wrong.
Here is a list of each bolt I need. This might help someone who is in the same fix I am in. Atleast it saves some legwork. If anyone finds a mistake please let me know.
Fan Blade
4- 5/16 x 2 ¾
4- 5/16 lock washers
Timing Chain Cover
6- 5/16 x 1
Push Rod Cover
6- 5/16 x 7/8
Oil Pan
25- 5/16 x ½
25- 5/16 lock washers
Valve Cover
8- 5/16 x ¾
8- 5/16 lock washers
Fuel Pump
2- 5/16 x 7/8\
2- 5/16 lock washers
Motor Mount
6- 3/8 x 1 ½
Thermostat Housing
2- 5/16 x 7/8
Bell housing
6- 3/8 x 1 ½
Alternator Bracket
3- 3/8 x 1 ½
Alternator
1- 3/8 x 3 ½
1- 3/8 x ½
Power Steering Pump
3- 3/8 x ¾
Power Steering Bracket
4- 3/8 x 1 ½
The original poster says "timing chain cover", but it appears he is describing a 300 engine, which has timing gears.
See if any junk yard nearby has an old engine and ask if you can purchase the bolts. If so, take photos or make a drawing as the bolts are removed.

As Preston mentioned, not all bolts holding the front cover are the same length. The one on the passenger side lower boss is longer because the boss on that bolt hole is taller. You'll need a bolt about 2.0" long in there. Additionally, the three bolts that mount thru the oil pan may need to be shorter to prevent the bolt from bottoming out on the cover before final torque is reached - maybe 3/4 - 7/8".
Don't judge the forum too quickly. There's a lot of great guys/gals here. Sometimes it's just best to ignore someone if they get a little salty. We all have bad days.
If you can't find what you need I've got a bunch of spare engines. I'd be willing to sell you a whole set. I've got pretty much any stock part/hardware for these engines.

Thanks for you're help! I bought the engine but my new issues is the fuel pump. I can't see to find someone the right one to slide in there. Engine is from an E-350 still a 4.9 300
On the fuel pump, first thing first. Make sure you aren't trying to install it upside down. It may take a little pressure to get it to seat. If it's too hard, rotate the engine over by hand a little bit to move to a lower spot on the eccentric on the cam.
