I have an F350 Dually King Ranch, Blue Jeans, loaded to the hilt on order. One of the reasons why I went for a dually was for 4.10 gears, and to place a combination slip tank/tool box in the bed and still have a decent amount of bed space. We also have a 2 month old baby girl. New born babies on outings require a mass amount of gear, and I hate having loose objects in the cab of my vehicles. Minister of War and Finance (AKA my wife) won’t tolerate having the babies stroller getting dirty in the bed of my truck. The deal was “get a cover for the bed, and we will review the situation.” A tonneau cover just won’t work when a slip tank is installed, so the next alternative is a Leer canopy. However, I fear that a Lear canopy will potentially interfere with a high mount camera in my tow tech package. Has anyone on here had any experience with an ultimate tow package and a Leer canopy, or can somebody give me some storage recommendations minus a canopy please?
I have a leer 122 on my 2018 supercrew with UTT cameras. The tailgate cam obviously still works, the 360 view works, but obviously the CHMSL cam is blocked.
There is a kit for relocating the tailgate cam (~$200) and I'm planning to buy that and relocate the CHMSL cam to the back of the cap - as soon as I have the time to figure out if both cameras use the same connector. I think that will really help when launching my boat.
The kit includes a housing (plastic box) and a camera extension cable. The cameras are different sizes (CHMSL cam is much larger) and the housing would have to be modified.
Looks like the kit made by rostra. Also available on ebay. I've emailed Rostra and asked them to make one for CHMSL. I'm sure additional emails wouldn't hurt.
I would very much like to hear how the CHMSL cam relocation works out. I'm getting very close to ordering a 2019 F350 CCLB and the first thing that I plan to do is install a Leer cap (it'll be my third since 2004). I was trying to figure out how this will all play out with the UTT package, and in the case of the re-location the neatest way to get the extension wiring to the back of the cap. It sounds like the UTT interference isn't an issue, and there may be a solution on the way for re-location of the CHMSL camera. I'll send an e-mail to Rostra also!
The topper will block the camera in the third brake light, but it does not affect the 360 view. I haven't missed the camera one bit, but I don't use a gooseneck or fifth wheel. I have a 2018 with a leer topper. Good luck.
