Hello, I have a '97 E-350. I have to replace the door latch cable for the outside handle of the passenger side back door. It appears the the cable connects to the top of the latch assembly so I'll have to use a T-27 to remove the latch to connect the cable. The original cable fell out. Any good videos showing standard procedure?
No video from me. I replaced my cable ends a few months ago. I had to take the license plate bucket out to do it but I don't recall why.
Do you just need to replace the cable ends? That's what usually happens - the plastic cable ends rot and then the cable pulls away from the latch or handle. Buy a bag full of the aluminum cable ends.
I searched around for some vids a while ago and could not come up with anything helpfull.
If you can get the latch out it makes it much easier to replace the cable. The torx bolts stripped on mine so I cannot get the latch out.
I purchased aluminum cable ends (a lot of sellers online) but the ones I bought need modified to work properly so I am going to wait and go ahead and purchase a whole new cable.
This has been discussed here quite a few times. It's not very difficult, especially if you don't have power locks. You should replace the inside handle ends while you're doing it.
