What size tip for borescope/endoscope?
Want something that I can get in the injector tip hope to inspect things.
(This may or may not be related to an 04 project truck that the my boy and his friend bought last night. Has #6 contribution code and smokes like a train, wet EGR valve, cam position sensor code..........)
Good thing they start tech school in a few weeks

I had a Snap-On Borescope with the stock 8.5mm imager but also had the 5.5mm imager to get through the injector hole.
I shouldn't have sold that off........
Editing in......
I bought a wifi borescope for my iPhone that works quite well. At the time all of the cameras seemed to be in the 8mm range, but I just looked at Amazon and there are now 5.3mm (2.1") units out there. It may be a good alternative.
I was hoping Amazon or similar had something a little cheaper. If I was wrenching for a living I would invest is a name brand, but since I am too picky and would starve on flat rate......I'll keep the day job and do this on the side
This is the newer, smaller version that I have in my wish list.
I have this one and bought it specifically to look into a cylinder through the injector hole and it worked.
Look down at post #18 from my thread here, and I show a pic of my piston thru the hole. As I note there, it's a LOT easier to see what's going on while you're watching the live video on your phone/laptop. The screenshots end up a bit blurry. I could clearly see a ring coming through the top of a piston, so I knew it was engine-pull time.

It was a limited time lightning deal for 31 bucks

It's similar to both of those you guys linked for me. I had forgot about that post mattdoc. Certainly hope I don't find what you did.
Truck was bought pretty cheap, but it won't be if I see what you did!
As far as I know it wasn't driven that way long. It's a one owner, bone stock.
I might start a thread on it once we get things going, just for kicks

I will say those boys dodged a rather large bullet. Upon further inspection of the injector tip, noticed a crack from one side to the other, top to bottom....minus the top 1/16 or so.
Needless to say it would not have ran much longer without some serious damage.
Turbo is shot(I'm sure that is where some of the smoke was coming from....a ton of shaft play), and to top it off the back bolt won't come out. I've never fought that bolt on the later style since it's easy to get on.
I have a feeling they didn't get the socket squared good enough the first time, and didn't let it soak overnight either.
I've tried everything but a die grinder with a cut off wheel. I have one that will just fit back there.......will see how that goes.

I thing DTR showed in a video the leverage trick.
Guess I'll be ordering that scope......
Since it's the later style where you can see what you are doing it made things easier.
Boy is that down pipe a mess of caked on oil, I'm sure it will take some time to burn that off.
