1980 F100 Dashboard

Guys, I don’t have a dash on my truck. I want to purchase a new one but there seems to be two for my year, 1980. The two have drastically different prices. I’d prefer to use the less expensive option.

Will both the dash in the attached picture work for my truck?

What is the difference between the two.

Thanks as always, u guys are very helpful.

Jeff

The expensive part is the real factory dash pad. The cheaper #2 parts are aftermarket covers that slip over the factory pad. Manufacturers like Coverlay make the dash covers.

If your dash looks like this with out the top part (pad).

Then you need the full top pad part like below, read more $$ part.

Now if you have the top part like above and it looks like the part above then you can buy the cheaper part, the pad cover, to put over the main pad.
I do have a pad cover, no picture, for the other top pad I have that is in a little better shape than the one pictured above.

Where are you getting these? I can't tell from the catalog. I only see the dash cover from LMC. I would like to get a new factory pad (mines shot).

That looks like the LMC catalog the way it is laid out.

BTW if you do a search I think it is up in the sticky area there is a post or 2 on "how to" repair your pad.
My picture above of the pad is my first try on fixing the worst of 2 I have.

The speaker hole had a screen backer from the PO so I filled in the hole with expanding foam and trimmed level. When I added the top textured part the foam turned to a liquid mess so I had to start over.
I removed all that and started over. On the backer I used sheet metal held in place with hot glue. I don't remember what I used to fill in the hole with out going back thru my thread.
That is where I am at on the pad repair as I moved onto other things the truck needed but will get back to it some day.

Fuzz, my dash looks exactly like ur maroon one in ur forst picture (except I have no A/C). So, you’re saying I need the more expensive part, correct?

Sorry to say yes ..... OR ......... hit a junk yard, find the best one you can and pull it has to be under $100 (saved $300) and then buy the cheaper cover ($130 black / $150 colored) to put over it to make it look new again.
I don't have a picture of it but I do have a cover for my other pad to make the pad look as good as my restored dash.
