Just got both front hubs rebuilt and start the truck, take'er for a spin and have a stutter... But only when the transmission is engaged, and its not a tranny stutter its an engine stutter, and the more fuel you try to give the more it misses ? When in park you can slam the pedal and it sounds great. I checked all the plugs, wires, replaced the fuel filter, replaced an old section of fuel line.... On to the carb this weekend, not sure if i have a stuck float ? Bad fuel pump ? If i let it sit for a minute it wont stutter for a little bit, almost like the bowl is getting re-filled in the carb ? Any suggestions are appreciated...
A shudder under load can also be from weak spark. Common with a bad duraspark module or low voltage going to the module. Check that also.
You beat me to it.
Check for battery voltage drop under load...sometimes it will read @ 12v static and drop way off under load. Also in a duraspark system you should see a consistent 9v at the coil.
Also I have seen engines shutter when transmissions were low on fluid...but they didn't act like they were stalling out, just like they couldn't convert torque.

Great suggestions, I have an extra duraspark module already mounted under the hood, I will switch the plugs today and test the voltage from the coil and battery...
Just an update, im still chasing the ghost... Switched out duraspark modules, checked coil it is getting 9v from the resistor. Battery is showing 12v with truck off and 13-14v when running, checked choke and its getting 12v ish with truck running.. Cleaned up some wiring that was fraying and still I have a horrible shutter under load, but zero problems when the truck is in park. Also the tranny was low, gott'er to the sweet spot on the dipstick while idling hot, still no dice for the shuttering. Once the truck cools down im going to pull the metering rods on the Edelbrock and check for debris, spray out jets etc..... Took a video that captured a lot of wind noise... might try that again this afternoon is there another way to check the coil that im missing ? Oh btw, I also have a vacuum gauge under my dash and it is sitting at 15hg at idle with some variations, dosnt appear to be a vacuum leak...
And bam ! Like nothing ever happened I took the air cleaner off, got cozzy over the carb, took the metering rods out, cleaned, sprayed every corner of the carb while working the butterflies, took'er for a spin and its like nothing was ever wrong....... I took off my extra fuel filter a few months back, well its back on now.... .... Glad this was the fix, I was going to tear the distributor apart next...... Thanks for all your suggestions as they were right on par with these symptoms on numerous other forums...
