What does... Invalid value for 'VIN' mean??

I am trying to list my 69 Ford for sale on this site and it tells me (Invalid value for 'VIN') I took a picture of the VIN off the door and I am at a loss as to what is wrong/missing? I have searched for the location of the VIN for this truck and it lists exactly what I have.

What have you got for a VIN?

That maybe because all of the newer VINs have more numbers than our old trucks. So it won't recoginize them.

The VIN number I have is F26YRF16923

And if it is not long enough then how do we list older trucks for sale?

I agree, that your VIN has enough digits. But what I meant was, a lot of online sites don't understand the "the amount of digits on the older VIN system". They are set up for the newer VIN system. I had to do a face to face and the DMV to register my 69 F250 CS, the online system wanted more digits.

So How?

Does that mean we are not allowed to sell our older trucks on this site? It will not let me post the add in the for sale area without a VIN that it likes...

I get F-250, 4WD, 360CID V-8, built in San Jose, CA, in May of 1969.
If that isn't good enough for your listing, contact the site admin and point out to them that SOME Ford trucks only have 11-digit VINs, and that the site software should be able to handle that.

(I recently went through something similar with my insurance company)

Wow... I find it a bit funny that the site has that issue at all since it deals with OLD trucks! Yes the description you got from the VIN should be all I need but the damn thing WILL NOT post the add without a "valid VIN" even though it is a valid VIN. But ok I guess I will have to get hold of the admin.

So does the Admin even read the forums? I posted this question 13 days ago and sent a message to the admin. Any Ideas?

The NHTSA recall web page requires a 17 digit VIN. I guess it means vehicle websites no longer acknowledge that older cars exist.

That web site is to check Vin for "recalls". I doubt that they ever did. 17 digit Vin numbers have been around since 1980. I don't think there were such things as "recalls" back in the 70's.

Jeff, you mean you forgot the "Infamous" Pinto/Bobcat recall of 1978? Also, the first recall I can find is that of 1959/1960 Cadillac Eldoradoes due to bad tierod ends being made of softer metal which broke in low speed turns.
