I've got a 2015 F350 that I bought a few months ago with 23,000 miles. When the backup camera comes on towards the top of the screen, it is fuzzy and there are a bunch of little lines running across the top. The picture will also spaz out and start scrolling up and the same picture appears at the bottom of the screen and scrolls up. This did it for 1-2 days, and hasn't done it for the last 2 days. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it could be? Picture and video are attached.
From my understanding and the camera on my 2015, this is the camera going bad. They are not cheap to replace. Cost of the camera 3 years ago was like $100. Now the camera is $300 plus.
Just in case if is not the camera, you can try disconnecting the tailgate harness the spare tire and spraying it with WD40 or similar.
You might still have coverage under the warranty even though you’re not the original owner. If you are still covered, have the camera replaced under warranty.
I'm having issues with the camera also, quits when raining or washing. Intermittent operation. Now not working at all. Been replaced once and it's is just over 2 yr warranty on replacement. Dealers won't touch. Want $900 to replace. Guess I need to get hold of a Ford Customer Service Rep...
You are out of warranty. I believe an item replaced under the 3/16 warranty is only covered for the remainder of that warranty and not covered under the 2 year parts warranty.
But, honestly, you expect Ford CSR to get the dealer to replace it?
I ran into similar problem with my 2015. The original went bad under 3/36 warranty. Dealer said nope, nada when the guidelines disappears within the "2yr parts warranty". They told me it was replaced under my 3/36 and the 2yr parts warranty does not apply.
Since it is only the guidelines, I can live without that function for now. One day maybe use the extended warranty to get it replaced when I need another repair at the same time I paying the $100 deductible.
Think I found a fix, just have to see how long it lasts. Followed the directions on another post. It seems to be linked to the parking brake, I put it in reverse, camera not operating, pull brake release and play with pressure on parking brake pedal, camera started to work again. Seems PB mechanism may be interfering with the wiring bundle that is location behind it.
Don't know if anyone has seen this come up on their screen or not, but somedays in the morning I get this picture and it's humid or after a rain. Other days it's in the afternoon, sometimes it lasts 2 days before camera will come back on. It is frustrating as how can you take it back to dealer when it is working? I called finally after about six months of this happening and service guy said if it aint broke when it comes in not much they can do. He did say they would look for a code to see if it showed up. But I'm thinking that I will leave there and it still won't be any different.
