I recently bought a 2007 F250 6.0 diesel. It ran and drove but had a check engine light. They said it was a glow plug. But the truck had a "Repaired" Title. They said it had water damage. So, fine, It was in otherwise good condition with only 113k miles and I bought the truck anyway. I had Autozone Check the codes and they were: P0675, P0279, P0401, P0678. Looking at the truck a little closer, the odometer says TBC Fault, but there is no TBC installed. And some of the gauge lights were out. I drove the truck to work twice and the second time, on my way home, 15 minutes in, I got on the gas and it would only idle. After shutting it down and topping off the oil, it ran normal again.
After that, I got to work on fixing all these things. I gutted the interior and cleaned everything. I replaced all the gauge lights. New cigarette lighters cause they were all rusty. New padding cause The pad under the rubber mat was soaked, there was silt/dirt in the doors and everywhere. It looked like they just did a surface clean and nothing else. So I did a thorough cleaning on everything. After doing the interior, I cleaned the engine and replaced all 8 glow plugs and wire harnesses, #7 injector, standpipe and dummy plug on pass side, cleaned the EGR, new CAC boots, fuel filter, oil filter, Blue spring upgrade on fuel pressure regulator and new batteries cause they wouldn't hold a charge.
Now the truck won't start. It will crank, but no start. I have fuel flowing to the upper filter, I have oil flow up to the oil filter. I double checked my work at the fuel injector. Yes, I took apart the pass side twice. No fun there. When I crank it for 7-10 seconds, I get oil pressure at the gauge, but when I pull the ICP, I don't have oil dripping out. I tried cranking with the ICP disconnected but no luck.
I am this close to buying a Scan Gauge II, but wanted to see if you guys could give me some guidance.
Please help! I need this to be a reliable truck I can take on long hauls.
The truck miraculously started after I bought the ScanGauge. Now I'm having problems with the alternator. I bought a brand new alternator because mine would only read 12.4 volts and the new one also only read 12.4 volts. I had both the new and old alternator tested and they test it out fine. What could be the cause of this?
