Allegedly, these photos were taken of a truck just outside of Sheridan , WY after the truck had been struck by lightning. Can’t verify just stole them off of FB friend in the area.
I’m here Dixon and I looked outside and so was my truck.
I will say we have serious thunderstorms here with lightning every day. But I learned my lesson on my last truck and will no longer park under a tree to escape the hail.
Never stand or park under a tree during a lightning storm. Lightening tends to strike the tallest thing in the area.
I worked in Air Traffic Control towers for many years. And have been in them when they were hit. They are usually the tallest structure on an airfield and get hit quite a bit. But are grounded very well.
This appears more serious than mine. At least I wasn’t in my truck. But the truck appears on an open road. Prayers to the owners— hoping they got out in time.
Also, regarding parking my truck under that tree,
its been in the family over 100 years and asking the elder members of the family, it had never been struck by lightning until March 20 this year.
When Larry’s truck was struck I was about 60 miles east of him. The severe Strorm warning with hail and tornado warnings came over my cell phone. I was camping in my 5th wheel. My wife and I loaded up our truck with our dog and parrot in his cage. We drove to a neighbor’s home about a mile from us. As I pulled in front of their home the hail started to come down. I was parked under a tree to protect the truck from hail. It happened so fast I got the wife and dog in the neighbors house and left the parrot in his cage in the back seat of the truck.
The lightening was scarry. In the distance we could see a funnel cloud.
Fortunatly there was no damage.
The video time stamp is . March 20th, 6:05 pm. This just before it got real nasty.
