Hey guys new to the forum and have found unbelievable help in all the threads. Recently purchased 1991 F-150 5.8l 4x4 E4od didn't run and took a chance since it was low km (160 000) first found the eec wasn't grounded properly then found it throwing codes for a maf sensor ( its map) replaced with reman bwd after that fiasco, a tps code and no spark narrowed it down to the ignition module fired right up after. Now comes the tricky part it was throwing code 67 so replaced the white mlps with a new bwd still throwing the code. Test drove it anyway come back and it's puking atf out the inspection hole ripped tranny out and resealed the pump, front seal and rear main seal. And its back to square 1 throwing code 67 then I pull the harness for the trans and repair the trans solinoid connector (melted 3 inches) and complete continuity check was all good. So if you have made it this far my questions are currently
•If I pull the ac fuse will that Guaranty the ac won't be throwing the code ?
•Found a technical bullitin on mlps sensor for 1994 that says to ground pin 46 if you are getting funky values at pin 30 will that apply to the 1991 model year?
• Are there schematics for the E4od transmission harness any where checked in the Haynes manual and they don't have a solid wiring diagram pertaining to the trans
Other random stuff that I believe will help troubleshoot
no od light on ever
when I pulled the trans pan a random solinoid bolt was stuck to the magnet put it back in along with new filter and gasket
Are you sure you are getting a code 67?
I was thinking that a 1991 with and E4OD would have three digit codes.
Also we need to know what test the code is from, KOEO, CM or KOER?
A KOEO Code 67 is:
Service Code 67 indicates that during Self-Test, voltage was high on NDS (Pin 30) or ACCS (Pin 10) circuit.
A CM Code 67 is:
Code 67 indicates the Manual Lever Position Sensor (MLPS) voltage is higher or lower than expected.
Note that CM codes if not cleared will stay for 60 start-ups.
Thanks its key on engine off and the truck will go into od 1,2nd manual and reverse but start in high gear. I want to deal with the code first then move on to pressure tests for the pump etc. And the code is two digit got the cheap innova obd1 reader for ford.
Unplug the Manual Lever Position Sensor (MLPS) and run the KOEO test and see if you still get the 67 code.
If you still get the 67 code then the code may be coming from the ACCS circuit.
No, the code is for the Manual Lever Position Sensor (MLPS) or ACCS circuit saying that the voltage was too high.
So unplugging the MPLS should do away the 67 code. It may give a different code but that is OK with it unplugged.
If you still get the 67 code that would mean it is a ACCS circuit problem.
But make sure these code are from KOEO and not the CM stored codes that comes after the KOEO codes are checked.
The solenoid pack would have nothing to do with this code 67.
Ok disconnected mlps and disconnected battery to clear code.
No change
Took a look at the values of the mlps at pin 30 came out to
5.6v in park
reverse was 3.6v
neutral came in at 1.7v
drive 0v
manual 2 -1.7v
manual 1 -3.42v

So it's been along time I believe I got a new sensor to replace it, but I also think I changed out the computer after discovering it was for a different truck I think, sorry I don't have a better memory for that question.
