250 sd lift

I know its been talked about alot already. I plan on going with an 8in lift. I want to go all spring. Thinking on the DR 8 or full traction in the 2g range. Any downfalls with either. Or should I save a little and go with the fab tech or one of the others for $1200 range.

If DR is short for Donahoe and the Edgge liifts, they are the top on most peoples list at this time, I have no input on the Full Traction liifts. I run a Superliift/Fabtech/Skyjacker combo and am very happy with it. I guess it depends on what your going to do with the truck, and how much you want to spend to do it. I would recomend Bilsteins with any lift you choose.

I don't think anybody is going to asnwer your question on whether to save a little. The answer will come going down the road after your lift kit is installed. If your goin w/ an 8" there a more things to consider. I recommend OverKill as an Edge distributor. Thats who I'll be ordering my 8" kit from next weekend. So, I wish I could give some first hand experience about the ride in the 8" kit versus stock right now, but not til next month.

The DR 8" is nice......a buddy of mine runs it on his '02 F-350 CC SB PSD.......lot better ride than the 4" Pro Comp he had before. I hope to be getting mine in the next few months. After I rode in a few Edge lifts I thought that they were worth the extra money.

I haven't had a chance to look at Full Traction............I would like to since they are one of the more expensive ones too.

Fabtech will be one of the smallest 8" lifts you can buy.

I'll second Tankhead's recommendation of buying an Edge lift from Marty over at Truck Toyz.

Hope this helps.

I just put a 8" superlift ( all spring) on my truck and I am very happy with it. I think my tires absorb most of the bumps in the road, But it does ride better than my 4" procomp lift did. Maybe because of the bigger tires. I dont see how the edge kit could ever justifie itself at 700+ more than the superlift . My truck rides great like it was almost stock, but i think the tires play a important role because i run them at a pretty low preasure. Now when i go offroading its pretty rough ride, but I rarely do that. So for 700+ more i guess i could have gotten a better ride off roading for maybe if i am lucky 15 minutes a month. Doesnt seem worth it in my mind. My tires are 38X15.5X16 Super Swamper Radial TSL. Just my opinion. Me and another guy put the lift on my truck in probaly 8-10 hours with no air tools and it cost me 70 bucks to get my front drive shaft lengthened. Of course I dont know anyone with the edge kit, so maybe im missing out on something.

thanks for the input. I plan on going with dual bilstein 7100s for shocks. one question is on the 8in edge it says its all spring but only comes with 5 inch lift springs for the back. how does this work.

All your rear lift is via springs......no lift blocks, but you keep a stock F-350 block underneath it.

Edge does have a 8" rear spring available as well....

FWIW, I plan to run the 8" front springs, 8" rear springs, and a 1" rear block.

Hope this helps.

I like the way the truck looks with the rear just a little bit higher.....not really noticeable, just enough so that it doesn't look like the rear might be a little bit low.

I think abendx really did stop posting....

Not sure about Donahoe...

Overkill had been temporarily banned for like a week....not sure if he will come back...

i see i see. I saw the subject of this thread and started askin myself.. why hasn't this thing made it to two pages yet. Funny how things change.

peichai- what is your budget like? If you have lots of money to throw around i would say go for the edge. What the heck. If you have a budget and still want to get tires rims and such go with superlift or skyjacker. I love my superlift - since i put bilsteins on even more! The only regret i have is when i was at a "normal" height i mounted my steps too high!!!

dual 7100's? I think you've already made your mind up which lift your goin with. I don't claim to know anything about shocks, but Kreg Donahoe did give me a tour of his facility and how they go about rebuiling and valving a 7100 for the SD last month when I was out there on business. The 6245 valving for the 8" seems to be a big factor in the quality of the ride at that heigth. If thats what your interested in. I can only go singles. Doesn't mean I can't go back for 2 more later though. But I am goin w/ reservoirs in the rear w/ the ORU dress-up kits all around.

And FWIW, this is the first post I've seen that has mentioned the absence of Abendx and OverKill. Seems like there has been a drop in threads inquiring about lifts since they've been gone. I hated to see a guys thread get kicked around here for a few days. Only to see the same thread started w/ the same username on anoother site and gets multiple responses and his ?'s answered that day. I just thought they were a great resource to have on this forum.

Kreg,

Can I ask u about this set-up. Is this a good one? I'm not quite sure if this is what I was goin w/. I thought it was the 5" springs w/ the factory 4" block. Thanks!
