Water Pump 460

Okay, so my old 460 motor had a plate behind water pump, used 460 motor I bought and dropped in did not have this plate behind water pump. Can someone explain to me the purpose of the plate and if it is needed.Truck continues to overheat got up to 230 yesterday. I could coolant boiling a little but nothing boiled over.

You need that plate. Take it off your old one and put it on your new one.

The plate is required!
