So, I traded for this truck ant it was lose to ready for paint. I posted pics of the truck and was informed that the bed was actually for a newer truck (which I never realized till mentioned). My truck is a 55 which has the full length running boards ant this truck has the short board on the bedside. My question is: has anyone got an idea or seen one converted to be used on a 55 by way of fabrication, or do I need to buy a new one?
The bed and the fenders are the same from 53 to 72. But the fenders on the 57 and up beds are mounted higher than the 53 to 56 beds. I had a bed from a 70 F100 on my 54 from 1999 to 2015. It will work but the 53 to 56 running boards will need to be cocked up at an angle to meet the higher rear fenders. Plus you'll see more wheel under the fender. But nobody will know except us experts. In 2015 I bought a proper reproduction bed for $600 from Midwest early Ford. I can post picks of my old bed later.

Here are 4 pics of my truck with the 70 bed on it and one picture, the last one, with the correct bed on it. Notice how the running boards are cocked up to meet the fender, and how the top of the rear of the board has a gap between it and the bed. Also look how much wheel well you see. With the correct bed you can see the how straight the runningboard is.
