My flareside bed
I am selling my old 6 1/2 foot bed. It is originally from a 1971 F-100 and will fit F-100's from 1957 to 1972.
Here is a pic. The bed boards do not go with it.
I have it listed in the Classifieds and also on the 48-56 "For Sale and Swap" thread at: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/14...and-parts.html
There are more pics shown there. I am located in Central PA.
welded extensions
I'd like to put a bed on my truck to bring it back to as close to the 1960 original model year with slanted rails and without the wheel wells cutting into the inside bed.
Wood bed
My budget is tight ($500 or less, maybe more if I sell a Fender Telecaster I own). But here's what I'm thinking: I found two flareside beds - both from a 53-56 F100 (minus the fenders) asking price on one is $400 and the other $200.

$200 Flareside shortbed
I'd sell the bed I have and replace it with one of these that has a look much closer to what I am after. Has anyone done a similar swap? I am not going to move forward on this until I know what I am getting myself into, since I do not know much or anything about body work. Both sellers are also about 4 1/2 hour trip away from me.
I also really want to get rid of all the metal welded on to the current frame and I'm hoping someone will know if these beds will fit without all the modifications currently in place on my truck so I can grind off the hunks of metal.
I appreciate any input.
