Gas Mileage

Hi guys, forgive me but I'm fairly new to ford trucks,what mileage should I expect to get from an 86 F150 502,mine seems to be using prodigious amounts.

It depends on a lot of things, but assuming this is a 4x4 truck with stock size tires and no lift kit, I'd think you should get between 14-17mpg if everything is working well. If you have larger tires or you're lifted it goes down from there. If you're driving 75 on the highway instead of 55, it goes down from there again.

My 84 F150 302 seems to be getting 16 mpg or slightly better, but it's a two wheel drive with a 5spd.

If it's a 302 (502 big block?) I would check the codes since it should be fuel injected. Something can be wrong with one of the sensors and it will still run but poorly and get poor fuel mileage. Here's how to pull the codes.
