I just picked up a 2001 E 150 Econoline, and it came with a key and a fob. Turns out the key doesn't unlock the door. Did this model come with a seperate door key? Seems like it must have.... otherwise, why does it even have a key hole? I'm thinking of going to an auto locksmith to have one made, just in case the fob fails. (Bonus question: how much should I expect to spend to have a door key made without having a copy?)
Spray graphite or WD-40 into the keyhole to lubricate the mechanism. The problem is you get into the habit of always using the key fob so the mechanism locks up.
