My 2017 6.7 F350 is 18 months old and just had a BCM replaced so now starting research on purchasing a Ford ESP plan. The question I have is with the Premiumcare plan they state it covers over 1000 items but what big ticket items does it not cover? An example is the DEF system, is it covered? I filled out the Flood online application and stated it is a diesel and nowhere do I see anything relating to any DEF components. I would imagine the DPF is not covered as catalytic converters are not covered but what about everything else related to the DEF system? I don't even see BCM module listed or any computer modules for that matter, maybe they are included under something else. I am sure the "covered" list is what they go by, not the "what's not" list. So are there expensive items that are not covered or does this plan allow us to sleep well at night? Thanks
Yes, I know but while I am not familiar auto esp’s I have read through the years about RV service plans and never bought one. They do NOT go by the what’s not covered list. If it is not on covered list, it’s not covered. Otherwise they would advertise it as bumper to bumper coverage with those exceptions. They certainly don’t say that! I have read that it is very difficult to see the actual contract until you buy it with regards to third party insurers. When I get time I’ll stop by where I bought my truck and see if they will give me a contract to look over. Thanks.
I have mine handy, actually. it does get more granular, so I can look up those things if you like. I can say though - I've had horrible experience with the one RV warranty I've ever owned. I've never had a bad experience with a Ford plan, and I've owned a whole lot of those. The top end plan is as bumper to bumper as it gets. if it's not designed to wear out, like fluids, tires, shocks, etc, then it's covered.
I decided a long time ago to never buy an RV plan but this Ford plan sounds too good to pass up. I am just gun shy about spending the money then being told it’s not covered. That is all too familiar in the rv world. I don’t want to take up your time to look up those items, just thought someone out there might have already had experience with the esp and if there are any shortcomings to the plan. Thanks again.
not to derail, but since misery loves company - my brand new (at the time) 2010 Forest River Wildcat 35' 5th wheel had a funky smell from day 1. I had it in for warranty work 3 times for that same issue, during the factory warranty, and they couldn't fix it. We just learned to minimize the smell by keeping the tanks as clean and as empty as possible, and not leaving the dump valve open if hooked up to sewer at a park. after a couple years they finally figured it out. turned out it was some valve under the master bath sink that was supposed to vent gas up through the roof but instead was venting it up through the sink. No idea how it got put together that way, but it was like that when delivered. The extended warranty people denied my claim because this valve wasn't on the covered list. Forest River said well your warranty is up, so... dealer said we'll be happy to overlook that issue when you trade it in but otherwise SOL. I gave them all the middle finger and bought a valve and some PVC for $20ish and fixed it myself. And that's just *one* claim that was denied. There was also the heat issue, the AC issue, the inverter issue... none of which were apparently covered. Screw RV warranties and the horses they rode in on.
back to topic... I think you'll be happy with the Ford one, but FYI you can buy it any time within the factory warranty period. If you do it in the first 12 months and 12k things are even smoother. There are rebates and things that come out on those plans regularly, so IMO it's best to wait for the right deal, and buy it online. HTH
