I am considering buying the below wheels but from a guy locally for about half of retail price. I've read what I can find on backspacing requirements but still a bit unsure if these will work without adapters/spacers. TIA.

You need to be specific on which size wheel are you looking at because the specs differ from wheel to wheel. The specs look like they even differ depending on which 17" wheel you choose, -18 offset with 4.5 backspacing, or 6 offset with a 5.5 backspacing.
What are the specs of the used wheel you're thinking of buying?

The ones available locally are 17x9.5 w/-18 offset.
