Hi new guy here. I just got a 52 and the PO put a chevy bed box on it. I'm wondering what years will fit my truck since I'm trying to save some $$ and find a used bed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Hi Ryan, welcome to the forum and congrats on your new truck. The correct bed will be from 51 and 52 trucks, as well as some late built 1950 with the flat side panels. This is assuming we're talking about an F1, you didn't specify. 1948-50 beds will fit but have what's known as raised panel bed sides, and they require the correct fenders to work with the early style bed. They're notched at the mating flange to fit around the raised panel area. The 51-52 fenders are flat at the mating flange. The overall look and shape are the same.
53 and later beds will physically fit, but the fenders and running board mating area will be all wrong, and I would advise against it, if at all possible.
If you have an F2 or F3 long bed, then the beds are all the same from 48-52.
Here's a couple pics that show the difference in the bed side styles. Raised panel vs. smooth panel sides.
