Overheated starter

Overheated starter
F250,6.9 IDI ,twin battery, started fine. While driving a short distance I saw my ammeter pegged at 30+, smelled a whiff of electrical fumes. Got home and checked the temp on the starter housing...330 degrees. I'm open to suggestions, help ,advise.

Starter solenoid may be sticking and causing the starter to keep going. Do you still hear a cranking noise after it starts?
