I replaced the intake\exhaust manifold gasket on my 78 f100 4.9l 300 i6 and after putting everything back together I found this piece that I think goes somewhere on the exhaust manifold but i can't remember where. I've attached a couple photos, any help identifying what it is and where it goes would be appreciated.
Also, I started the Motor and it began smoking from the intake\exhaust area. I did spray a lot of wd-40 and pb blaster in that particular area. I also used a brush on copper sealant on the gasket and a little on the ring where the exhaust pipe connects to the exhaust manifold. Any ideas where I should look first to find out whats wrong?
