Truckerlife is a new member from Switzerland with a potentially great project. Says he has a 54 F-100 with a flathead V8 he wants to restore stock. A rare beast indeed, if that's what it is. He's looking for parts and advice. Here's his original thread that may have gotten overlooked. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...and-parts.html
AFAIK the numbers are still good for a flathead, it says "all" 8 cylinders 53-56. Here's a pic of EffieTrucker's '53 engine, as much as you can see of the mount it looks like the same as Y-blocks.
The front motor mount bracket for the flathead v8 was unique to the 1953 (53-54 Canada).
Wish I had a better photo. I lifted this picture from fullyford. He might have the bracket available as he is ditching the flathead. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1546444-53-m100.html
Please add my welcome. Number B4C 5057-A is a real number that, according to the 1/55 O.S.I. catalog, replaced the original TAAC 5057-A. The B4C 5057-A is also cited in the 11/55 Chassis Catalog. The 3/53 Chassis Catalog says TAAC 5057-A is listed with the 6038 grouping. The 3/53 listing for the 6038 grouping gives number TAAA 6038-A, Insulator (Engine Front Support), Upper 7 1/8” x 2 3/4”. The 11/55 catalog shows this too.
Parts Voice shows TAAA 6038-A can be found at Green Sales in Cincinnati, OH. They have 10. 1(800)543-4959. And Dennis Carpenter in Concord, NC, has 6. 1(704)786-8139.
If you want to use the B5S 6038-A number, Dennis Carpenter has 34 of those. Stu
Let’s try again. The diagram that you have posted I too have in my 1/54 and 12/55 Chassis Catalogs. The text section in 1/54 assigns it number TAAC 5057-A. Following that publication, Ford’s Obsolete, Supercede, Interchange (O.S.I.) Catalog of 1/55 changes the number to your B4C 5057-A. The number remains so in the 12/55 Chassis Catalog and 1964 consolidated catalog for 1948-1956. It is described in 12/55 as “Bracket, Engine Front Support”. Interestingly, that number and description are also then found for the part in the 6038 grouping section. But here the diagram shows only the small bracket and the shadow of the larger 5057 piece. From this point forward I find no source for the B4C 5057-A, and the references direct us to the smaller B5S 6038-A. Referring back to my first reply where the 6038 grouping numbers are found at suppliers, you might call them to explain what you need and see if they can pull a part to describe it to you. That might be a reach, but can’t hurt to try. Also, it may be that our friend Bill (ND) may have other insights and be able to access dealer only references that I don’t have access to.
I fear yours may be another instance where a part disappears from the references, or is substituted with a similar part of different design. We’ve in some instances been able to get around this by using the old original paper catalogs, but on this one I don’t see a solution. Stu
