Torsion axle adjust alignment?

My fifth wheel toy hauler has 6 lug torsion axles. It has the tires on it that were on it when I bought it 2 years ago. Looks like he took off one of the tires and put the spare on. The current spare tire is worn on the inside edge. I don't know what position it was in.

The front drivers side tire is worn on the inside edge to about half tread. The 3 other tires look great. I rotated the trailer tires today. Bearings all seem good. Just looking at the axles and wheels nothing looks bent or odd.

Any ideas?

What brand of axles? The first thing I would do is get each tire weighed with the trailer loaded for the road to make sure you dont have a overload situation On all trailers the front axle takes the biggest beating and it may have been bent from hitting something, not sure if they can be aligned.

It does sound like you have a toe problem on that axle. Most torsion trailer axles (such as Lippert's) don't have provisions for alignment. A big-rig shop with Hunter alignment equipment can tell you if you have a problem. If possible, they can also bend the axle to realign. If that's not an option, it would axle replacement time.

On my Dexter standard axles I had a tow in problem from day one and every time after I had them aligned that axle went back to a tow in problem after a couple of years in fact it has it again now , this time I just rotated tires from to back because they are do to be replaced next year. I would replace the axle if it's the problem.

No clue on the axle brand. 6 lug so I believe 6000 lbs. The sticker with the weights is not readable. Last time I weighed it it was right about 12k on the axles. That was with a few motocross bikes and the golf cart in the back. No individual weights and it will be a little different every time.

I put a straight edge on the sidewalls. Passengers side looks good drivers looks like the front is toed out. That is the position with the inside wear so that makes sense. This was after I had it jacked up to rotate the tires so nothing should have been twisted from turning but I will check again when I move it.

I'll look for a set of 7 or 8k 8 lug to replace them I think.

Axles are six sided but not even angles like a hexagon. Does that help identify them?

Some manufactures are put the lightest axles possible to save money. I have 8K axles with 7K springs and I carry 12600 on the axles, I'm also running 17.5 wheels with load range H tires.

Another thing, on the trailer that I had with torsion axles was that there were no equalizers between the axles. So this meant that the trailer must be as level as possible while travelling down the road to keep all axles carrying the weight properly; and one needed to balance the loads correctly. This could be a factor on un-even tire wear. Best of luck getting all straightened out.
