I'm running a 1715 tuner in my E-350SD. I have set the shift pressure up and changed the 1-2, 2-3 shift points. I've also lifted the speed limiter. When I'm towing I go to the performance settings. It only takes about 5 minutes to make the changes on my ECU. As for the results, I have been the source of some surprize to several ricers in the past and one Z-71 just 9 days ago. By the way I wasn't towing when I met the Z. But I seem to have forgotten to reset things. My memory seems to be getting bad of late.(LOL)
Really for the ease of use and the results obtained this is one of the "Great Mods" that are availliable.

I have the SC 1715 Tuner and it is a fantastic tool. It makes a lot of difference using their program; I haven't tried to customize the settings. Even gets a little better mileage if I keep my foot out of it. Have experimented with octane ranges--doesn't ping with mid-grade, so I save about 10 cents a gallon. It doesn't seem to run better on 93, so I stick with the plus or mid-grade.

Hey tblueV10...does the tuner plug into the ECU on your truck? I have a 2000 F350 V10 and I am wondering where the ECU is located.

The 1715 plugs into the diagnostic port under the steering wheel, slightly to the right as your sitting in the drivers seat. You should run the 93 octane even if you dont hear pinging/detonation, I have seen posts from many people stating that the fuel mixture etc. will be wrong and eventually cause engine problems (basically it is still pinging you just cant hear it). I have 35" thornbirds on my truck, after uploading the super chip program I can tear those tires apart. There is a very noticable difference in shift points/pressure and a noticable difference acceleration.

The programmer downloads and stores the stock program (& VIN #) before you upload a program or modify settings. Once you have modified a program the 1715 "locks" itself to your VIN# and cannot be used on another truck until you restore the stock program on the vehicle you modified the programming for.

It takes about 5-10 minutes to change programs or settings, all you have to do is pull fuse #19 from the drivers side engine compartment fuse box, plug in the programmer and make what ever changes you want (turning the key on and off as the programmer prompts you) then put the fuse back in and drive away.

SCMT 1715

Using the 1715 is a breeze. Plug the cable into the diagnostic port under the dash (easy to find and reach) and the tuner. Pull the fuel pump fuse (instructions say this fuse MUST be out) and turn ignition to 'on' but DO NOT START. Follow instructions on screen. Biggest problem I had was being scared I was going to do something wrong. In less than 15 min the first time, I had it done. I believe it makes a lot of difference in power and if I drive it with a light foot, it does better on mileage than without the program. Pulled my 9000# trailer on vacation to WY and CO this summer, and it made a lot of difference. I use midgrade when not pulling, and premium when using the trailer.

Got a 6.0 on order, don't need the tuner anymore. Any interest?

Thanks

Be aware that once a Superchips tuner is used on a vehicle it will have to be re programed by Superchips in order to be used on a different vehicle. The first time it is used to program a vehicle it establishes a VIN lock and will only work on that vehicle. For more info contact; tech@superchips.com

Correct me if I'm wrong but , as I understand it, as long as you return the vehicle to the stock setting you can use the tuner on another vehicle as long as the new vehicle is same make, year, and engine type.

You can use it on any 4.6L, 5.4L or 6.8L engine in the correct year range for the tuner (i.e. 1998-2003 4.6, 5.4 or 6.8, not sure of the actual year range though). This can only be used on one vehicle at a time and will be locked to the vehicle by the computer stored VIN #.
